Three Counties UK Flood Risk Assessment
NEW: EA flood Map checking service now available

Our Work

We are proud to say that our latest client was no less than the magical British Airways London Eye. The clients needed a Flood Risk Assessment study carried out and we were the ones chosen to do it. To say we were pleased to be given the commission is an understatement. Literally we felt “sky high” to be given the assignment.

Not we hasten to add that there is any question of the world’s largest observation wheel being threatened by flood. The London Eye stands on the top of a massive embankment on the South Bank of the Thames which only adds to its height and spectacular “flying” area across the river from the Houses of Parliament.

As part of its operational portfolio it has to hold on file the assessment for years to come to be pro-active in its concern for the safety of the millions of people who flock to the visitor attraction every year. It will enable the owners of The London Eye to monitor their position as flood levels rise and so keep a watching brief on their situation there.

A spokesman for the “London Eye” commented “We were very impressed with the thoroughly professional way Three Counties handled the work.”

So impressed that they allowed the Managing Director of Three Counties Flood Risk Assessment, David Eggleton, the chance to “fly” on “The Eye”. His verdict “It’s the one flight I will never forget. A truly magical experience.”

New Housing Development

A new housing development requires a Flood Risk Assessment. There is insufficient data on and off site to come up with an acceptable appraisal.

The EA cannot provide us with the detail required. Neither can a national data base designed for this sort of eventuality.

So what are we to do?

Well the answer is to build a model. And we have commissioned one to test flows up-stream and down-stream to see how they affect the site.

OK its an expensive operation but at least at the end of the day it will completely resolve the problem to the satisfaction of the Environment Agency – and more importantly for our client.

Because without the model he could never get an answer – nor the support of the EA.
